I think originality is not something he has ever claimed to have. This "wisdom" that he speaks of is stuff that's been pulsing through humanity for a very long time. He has found a way to express it that I think is particularly relevant for modern times.

Thanks! I've often fought that Tolle might think it was funny if he ever viewed this blog. Glad to see some of his fans feel that way.

I went to see Eckhart Tolle lecture in Vancouver. I am a fan. That said, your "interview" is hilarious! Thank you for a great chuckle this morning!

Dudes and all the dudes who still trying to figure Tolle out is this,he never claims to be original as you keep yapping on about ...oh he's not original...what the dude does and why he has had an impact and continues to have one is he has managed to simplify all these religious teachings and repackaged them in a non religious ( done away with the rigid norms, rituals, practises etc)accomodative non judgemental spiritualism.

That's what I'm looking for too.....the inside scoop from a close follower. I remember when 60 minutes did a story on the Church Universal and Triumpant with Elizabeth Clare Prophet (ECP). They showed the "teachers" walking ahead of the students on some kind of hike. The teachers were dissing the students and the whole philosophy of the church and mocking their followers. ECP too. So, if anyone has any real poop on this guy, I'd love to hear about it.

If that's Tolle's central idea, then my original point stands--he's not very original.
I thought the Oprah interview was funny because it seems that Oprah really doesn't know what he's talking about.

Maybe it was too "deep" for her.

Dude, Tolle's central idea is that we spend so much time wrapped up in our thoughts that we miss what's actually happening in our lives.

It's hard to argue that this isn't true.

And if he's teaching that people will feel better if they spend more time not-stressing, and focussing on the now, and then people do that, and DO feel better, then in what way is he a fraud? ;b...

I dig him, alot. The only idea he has that I disagree with is that our consciousness continues after we die. Other than that, it's pretty much all good.

And his teachings changed my life too.

I think guys like Tolle takes all the groovy ideas from Buddhism and takes out all that morality and self-training.
At least that's what I think his one-consciousness is trying to manifest to my inner being of oneness.

I can feel myself establishing an authentic one-ness with your poop-conciousness and my Chakras are on frickin' fire now.

Let the money-energy flow freely. Namaste.

Tolle takes the commonsense idea of living in the present, not worrying about the future or the past too much and then constructs an edifice of Metaphysical Poop on that modest foundation.
